About Us

A little about me...

I trace my start in horticulture to 1974, and the Ornamental Horticulture program at the San Jose Regional Vocational Center. I earned an award for outstanding achievement in O.H. in 1975 while in high school.

In 1976, I entered an apprentice program at the Saratoga Community Garden where I worked and studied organic gardening for 2 years.

I helped develop Mayfair Community Garden in San Jose in 1978, and later that year began work preserving and restoring orchards and ornamental gardens at the short-lived Nelson Gardens in Saratoga.

I continued my studies in horticulture at Foothill College in Los Altos Hills, and Cabrillo College in Aptos.

I am a past president and education chairman of the San Jose Landscape Gardeners Association, a former delegate to the Professional Gardeners Federation Of Northern California, and a past member of the advisory board for Foothill College's O.H. program.

I started a business in 1981, offering residential landscape maintenance services in Saratoga and Los Gatos. We quickly grew to include several apartment, condominium and commercial complexes and the City Of Saratoga as regular clients.

I began installing irrigation systems after obtaining a California contractors license in 1988. We branched out into landscape enhancements and renovations and added low voltage outdoor lighting systems in 1989 after attending a seminar led by industry pioneer and founder of Nightscaping, Bill Locklin.

Since selling the landscape maintenance division to some former employees in 1996, my focus has been mostly irrigation and lighting, from design and planning to installation, to maintenance and repairs. I stay current with new technologies, especially those that conserve water and energy. My business has been "green" since long before it became a buzzword.
